What Are Recurring Tasks?

Recurring tasks are chores that need doing on a regular schedule — daily or weekly. When you set up a recurring task, it gets assigned to a household member and appears in their Today view until completed.

The Today View

When you tap the main button to log a task, you'll see a Today section at the top of the task drawer. This shows recurring tasks that are:

  • Assigned to you
  • Due in the current window (today for daily, this week for weekly)
  • Not yet completed

Once you complete a task, it disappears from Today until the next window starts.

Setting Up Recurring Tasks

  1. Go to Settings → Tasks
  2. Create a new task or edit an existing one
  3. Under Recurrence, choose:
    • Daily - Due every day
    • Weekly - Due once per week
  4. Choose whether to rotate between household members or fix to one person
  5. Save the task

How Windows Work

Each recurring task has a "window" — the time period in which it needs to be completed.

  • Daily tasks have a 1-day window (midnight to midnight)
  • Weekly tasks have a 7-day window

When you complete the task, the window advances to the next period. If rotation is enabled, the next person in the rotation becomes the assignee.

Assignment Options

When rotation is enabled, the task cycles through household members. After someone completes it, the next person in the rotation gets assigned for the next window.

This is great for tasks everyone should share equally — washing up, hoovering, taking out the bins.

Fixed Assignment

Some tasks make more sense assigned to one person permanently. Maybe it's their preference, or they have a specific responsibility.

  1. Disable rotation when creating the task
  2. Select the household member to assign it to

The task will always appear in that person's Today view.

Tips

Keep It Simple

Start with a few recurring tasks and add more as habits form. Too many recurring tasks can feel overwhelming.

Use Rotation for Fairness

Rotation ensures chores get shared equally over time. No more debates about who did the bins last week.

Check Today Regularly

Make it a habit to check the Today view each morning to see what's assigned to you.
